There are many amazing stories from long time letterpress operators and they love to tell them. As we added the letterpress craft to our vast capabilities, we have learned how engaging, helpful and collaborative the letterpress operators are. I can listen to these guys (and a few gals including our own Julie Sandusky) go on.
We have been warned about the addiction. I must say, the warnings did not do justice to the love for creating brilliant letterpress products. I love the smell of the ink and the old press herself. The click of the plate and almost silent motor is a noise I literally miss when away. Is that weird? I hope so. Those who have come through to watch the press in action have the same feelings. Amazing what such an old craft can do to the soul.
The following video captured taking off the lower case ‘e’ type that was taped to our letterpress. This lower case ‘e’ is a luck charm. It will be attached to a press as it changes ownership. What a cool tradition!
